How I use photographs to decorate my new home!

Decorating a new home is always the most interesting but also the most difficult part.  How to display all of your favorite art pieces, what to do with the empty space, how to create a nice environment without clustering too many decorations on the walls... and the list goes on.

I consider myself quite lucky to have a decent size flat (in Hong Kong standard!) with good amount of spaces for me to 'play' with.  Here are photos to share with you all in how I have utilized my photographs as well as other art pieces as my home decorations.

My famous "Chianti Photography" photo
wall, display all of my most favorite pieces from around the world including Japan, Russia, Italy, France, Germany, India, Thailand, China etc.  I love framing my photographs in black frames with white boarders, as it creates a very professional and stylish look.  I also love the random layout on the wall, which allows more additional photos to be added on at later stage without looking too out of place.

In addition to the photo wall, I have also used wall art for the first time.  I really like these black flowers from Ikea.  Not only does it fill up the empty space on my wall, the style is also very "ME" and matches very well with the black frames.  I'm very happy with the combinations.

Inside the kitchen, I have used some food related themed photos, such as fresh fruits from the Parisian Sunday market, as decorations for the top of the cupboards.

My first Etsy Showcase

Just had my very first showcase on the Etsy Housewares section yesterday. Effectiveness!? Well, the showcase has definitely brought a lot of extra viewers to the site though no sales were generated...

For this showcase, I have chosen the black & white "Miffy Museum", which is a photo taken at the Dick Burna's Miffy Museum in Utrecht, Netherlands. Miffy is a small female rabbit in a picture book drawn by Dick Bruna, also one of my most favorite characters since childhood.

Another photo that seems to be very popular within the collection is "Cookie Monster", which was taken at Kiddy Land in Tokyo, one of the biggest and most popular toy stores in Japan. Perhaps many of us Etsians are children-at-heart!

Watch out for more Chianti Photography showcases upcoming, schedules as follow:

How Chianti Photography all begins...

Joni - the original jewelry designer
To most of my friends, I have always been a "jewelry designer". Having hosted five successful Joni Jewel Jewelry Trunk Shows since 2004, jewelry design has indeed been one of my greatest interests and hobby for a long time.

Developing interests in photography
It wasn't until two years ago when I started traveling more often and regularly for my "day job" - to places which I haven't even thought about, such as Kuwait and Russia - that I have developed an interests in capturing all the interesting scenes wherever I go.

So how does Joni's Photography come along?
I have recently moved into a new home called "Chianti" and of course, the biggest challenge for a homemaker is always the decorations!  After filling in the space with my carefully selected furniture and favorite art pieces, there were still odd walls awaiting for some exciting displays.  Hence, I have decided to make use of my interests - my photographs - in creating a photo wall.

The Photo Wall
By selecting a series of my favorite photographs, each photo is carefully framed in black wooden frame with a small white boarder, to create a professional and stylish finish.  By displaying these frames randomly on the wall, it turns out beautifully and stylishly, just like those I have always seen in the designer shops and hotels.

Chianti Photography on ETSY
For this reason, Chianti Photography was established in order to share this interesting photo wall concept and my photography. Through ETSY, I hope to share with you "My World" via photographs. Hope you will like them!
